I was given this book way back in December as birthday gift as it was one of my friends' favourite book series. It took me so much longer than usual to finish this book because I found it really difficult to get into the flow of the novel. The writing wasn't bad, but it did leave something to be desired. The real problem with Vampire Academy is the characters. I found the main, character, Rose, completely un-relatable and her friendship with Lissa just didn't seem real. The initial plot also didn't excite me, maybe because the only thing that was really happening was seemingly random outbursts of sassiness from Rose. As a whole, I only truly liked two characters in the book; Dimitri and Christian.
