As a mature, eighteen year old student, studying at one of the best colleges in the area, I am proud to say that today I spent an hour of my double maths lesson playing with lego. The picture at the side shows our marvellous creation. This may seem really strange, but it was actually very helpful. Decision mathematics is an applied module that teaches you the practical side of the subject, and building this truck helped us to understand an algorithm for carrying out tasks so that they are complete on time. I know that what I am saying will bore most f you, but I felt explaining the reason would justify a group of young adults having fun with lego.
Lately, I have a new found drive in my education. My willingness was failing a little bit and I was very unhappy in college. I began to fail maths and left the room each lesson on the verge on crying. Luckily, with the support of my teacher, I am actually improving. I hate failing, I really do, and getting a U in a mock exam definitely spurred me to try harder. All I keep telling myself is that I just need to get through these next few months and then I am free to do what I love.
Sometimes, the hard work doesn't seem worth it. But trust me, it is. Get through the difficulties and at the end you will look back and be proud.
